IRIS joins Natural Sciences Category 2 Centres and Chairs of UNESCO in Malaysia
Advisor to Isfahan Science & Technology Town (ISTT) President and representative of IRIS, Dr. Hasan Khakbaz, participated at the UNESCO Regional Workshop on “Promoting Interaction and Knowledge Exchange between UNESCO Natural Sciences related Centers and Chairs in Asia and the Pacific” held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on 26-27 May 2015. He delivered his presentation entitled “Isfahan Regional Centre for Technology Business Incubators and Science Parks Development under the auspices of UNESCO (IRIS): Introduction, Activities and Future Plans” to present the active role of IRIS for conducting capacity-building in the field of Science Parks and Technology Incubators development in the region. The workshop was attended by about 80 delegates from 16 countries and Dr. Khakbaz met and discussed with authorities attending the event and introduced IRIS activities and its achievements to them. He also had meetings with ISTIC Governing Board Chairman, Dato' Ir. Lee Yee Cheong, and ISTIC Director, Dato' Dr. Samsudin Tugiman about the future cooperation of ISTIC and IRIS. In the closing ceremony of the workshop and based on the declaration, participants agreed that UNESCO Natural Sciences related Category 2 Centers and Chairs in Asia and the Pacific region should develop a strong regional science network to promote interaction, knowledge sharing and joint activities, like the cooperation between ISTIC (Malaysia) and IRIS (Iran) in technopreneurship training for research scientists and engineers.
